Physics Bridge Building Project

This summer students in Mr. Price's physics class studied the forces that most affect bridges: tension and compression. To apply their learning in a hands-on format students were given a challenge to design and build a balsa wood bridge that would yield the highest strength to weight ratio. The students went through some trial and error with the construction process as they built roadbeds and trusses on their way to making strong but lightweight bridges of high efficiency.
