Oxford Nation Update

What is Oxford Nation? It is a Philanthropy Club right here at Oxford Academy. Over the past several years we have raised money for charities both locally and internationally. One of our major fundraising events has been the holiday shopping spree for the Westbrook Youth and Family Services in Westbrook, CT. This fundraising event supports local families in need with gifts for children over the holiday season. We will again be serving this charity in the coming weeks. Other notable charities include the Trout Unlimited, Australia Wildfire Fund, Bare Necessities, Equal justice Initiative, IRIS, and Save the Sound to just mention a few.

This Fall Oxford Nation is back up and running with our first fundraiser for the Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries. To raise money we are having a raffle for a Halloween Candy Basket and a non-perishable food collection for their pantry. Thanks to Martha Neale for her generosity in getting the treats for the basket and the inventive ideas for raising funds by Nick Stormer, Luke Rosenblatt, and Peter Thorp. Our Friday dollar dressdown has been a major fundraising incentive, but as we are allowed to wear casual attire due to Covid-19, we have had to put our thinking caps on as to how to raise funds in these challenging times. In the meantime, swing by Katie's office to buy a ticket or two and drop off your cans for the food pantry. Stop by our meetings to brainstorm fundraising ideas and ways to support your favorite local and international charities.

Oxford Nation Thanks You,

Ms. Vaughn and the Oxford Nation Team
